So I have finally gotten to posting a new blog so long in the making I know but things have been a little hectic after we got back from vacation. Any how where did I leave off..... somewhere in Virgina?
I guess that is where I'll begin after we said goodbye to Lolita we headed off for Maine again and after driving for about 18 or so hours we arrived in the wee hours of the morning, Nadia had waited up for us so we chatted with her awhile before crashing. The next day we drove up to Wisscasset to see cousin Juan and wife Sarah, Grandma and Grandpa Brown, cousin Tyson, Aunt Narda, cousin Tasha the whole lot:) It was so fabulous seeing everyone. We stayed with Juan and Sarah and did a little kyaking down the Sheepscott river, BBQ'ed, went swimming in a beautiful lake, basically a lot of family time which was really nice. After the visit there we headed on our way down to Portland to stay with Nadia an Rob a couple days. We canoed out into a marsh which was very peaceful but alot of hard work! I had never paddled against a current like that; we had to rush it on the way back since the shop where we rented the canoes from was closing. On our way home we had to stop and pick some strawberries (see pics above) they were so delicous. We also got to get some new fish for Nadia and Rob's tank, it was really quite fun to pick out the fish you want and introduce him to a new water world. The fish are aptly named Jordan and Alex...... I really enjoyed feeding the fish almost to much actually, I found it quite entertaining to toss bits of food into the tank to see if they would eat it.
On Sunday we had to say goodbye to Maine and the next adventure would be New York. We made it down there in about 6 hours and then promptly got lost. Alex swears the signs were stolen....hmm. We finally found a hotel in Jersey and stayed there the night the next morning we hopped a train over to the city. It is amazing to think how many people live there. We rode the subway all over that city hitting all the touristy spots. ie Statue of Liberty, Central Park, Times Square, Ground Zero by the end of the day we were tired and ready to find the next sight we found our car amazingly without any problem and scooted down the road to Washington DC. The capital was a big difference from NYC but a big city in its own way we had fun checking out the Smithsonian, the capitol building, the national monument, the white house. I was surprised by all the joggers running around the front lawn (doesn't anyone have a job around here, I was thinking this). My favorite place was the next big stop on the map Nag's head North Carolina and the outer banks, could have stayed there much longer, alas it wasn't so for after 6 hours there it was in the car again all the way down to Florida after a couple days in Disney world we unfortunately had to board a plan for home :( I could have done alot more traveling another couple weeks at least. oh well I guess now I should plan the next one !!!
